Lizzi Tremayne

Unpretentious, eminently readable Contemporary and Historical Fiction… by a horse vet!

Lizzi started HorseAndVetBooks.com because of she couldn’t find any websites solely for readers and authors of horsey and veterinary fiction. Now it’s here, and she’s trying to add value to her followers!

She writes about the Old West, Tsarist Russia, Georgian Scotland, and Colonial New Zealand, as well as veterinary fiction and non-fiction—all with a horsey flair—and has three historical fiction novels, two contemporary veterinary fiction novels and over thirty veterinary nonfiction articles published to date.

Lizzi Tremayne is the writing pseudonym of Elizabeth Thompson. She grew up riding wild in the Santa Cruz Mountain redwoods, became an equine veterinarian at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, and practiced in the California Pony Express and Gold Country before emigrating to New Zealand. There, she’s practiced equine medicine and surgery and attained a membership by examination in the ANZCVS in equine dentistry, a graduate diploma of teaching from Waikato University in secondary sciences (it’s a long story…), and IVAS veterinary acupuncture certification. She’s written for many horse magazines and veterinary journals over her nearly 30 years in practice.

Lizzi has two wonderful, grown-up boys, a very cute grandbaby, and an awesome partner in this sea of green. When she’s not writing, she’s swinging a rapier or shooting a bow in medieval garb, riding, driving a carriage or playing on her hobby farm, singing, or working as an equine veterinarian.
Her books are sold around the world in ebook, print, and some in large print formats.

Her debut novel, first in The Long Trails series, A Long Trail Rolling, was:
Winner 2014 RWNZ Pacific Hearts Award
Winner 2015 RWNZ Koru Award for Best First Novel
Third place 2015 RWNZ Koru Award for Best Long Novel

Upcoming books to be released in 2018 include:
Fifty Miles at a Breath, #6 in the Once Upon a Vet School series
Tatiana, book four in The Long Trails series of historical fiction.
